Like many markets in the UK and around the world, the short-term rental market in York was affected during 2020 due to COVID-19. In 2020, Airbnb hosts in the same market generated an average of $16,131. The next highest earning location in the UK for Airbnb hosts was the city of Bath, where hosts earned an average of $36,342 in 2021, again up from $20,626 in 2020. For listings with 4 bedrooms or more earned an average of $28,143 globally, up significantly from the $17,808 generated in 2020. Listings with 3 bedrooms generated an average of $18,026 in 2021, up slightly from $10,915 in 2020. On the other hand, listings with 2 bedrooms earned an average of $13,067 in 2021, up from $7,482 in 2020.
As you would expect, listings with fewer rooms, such as those with 1-bedrooms and studio apartments, generated less revenue for hosts. 1-bedroom listings earned an average of $8,586 in 2021 (up from $4,680 in 2020), while studio apartments generated an average of $9,694 in 2021 (up from $5,327 in 2020).

Properties with zero or few reviews tend to generate less revenue for their hosts. Those Airbnb hosts with short-term rental properties that had 0 reviews earned an average of $2,741 in 2021, a figure significantly higher than the $1,265 they earned in 2020.
